Routa is a safety-first navigation app designed primarily for students and women who feel unsafe walking alone at night. It evaluates routes using a clear safety score based on factors such as lighting, foot traffic, accessibility, and recent incidents, rather than simply showing directions. Routa also supports accessibility needs such as step-free routing and extends to smart glasses, offering hands-free safety tools including haptic and audio guidance, quick SOS, Group Walk, and Walking Buddy features that allow trusted contacts to follow and support a user’s journey.
